Wittlicher
Land
The Wittlicher Land connects the Moselle valley with the heights of the volcanic and southern Eifel. Extinct volcanic cones, maars, bizarre rock formations and valleys criss-crossed by rivers – the Eifel is a delight for nature lovers in particular. On the other side lies the Middle Moselle with its vine-covered slopes and famous wine villages. Three popular vacation regions meet around Wittlich: the Eifel, Middle Moselle and Hunsrück with the Erbeskopf. Active holidaymakers get their money’s worth between the Maaren and Moselle: whether you hike along the Lieserpfad, the Eifel or Moselsteig trails or cycle along the Maare-Moselle cycle path and through the Wittlich valley, the possibilities are endless. In the district town of Wittlich with its historic market square, you have the perfect starting point for shorter and longer tours and excursions. There is also a wide range of cultural and leisure activities in and around Wittlich. Numerous sights await you in the town itself, such as the Old Town Hall or St. Mark’s Church, and you can reach the Roman imperial city of Trier, the oldest city in Germany, in just 30 minutes by car or the romantic Moselle town of Berndkastel-Kues with Landshut Castle in 20 minutes. The perfect place to enjoy Moselle wine and the countryside.
